• PINETOPS -- Wes Sowers cranked out two home runs and emerged the winning pitcher in Greene Central's 9-1 victory over SouthWest Edgecombe in Eastern Plains 2-A Conference play Friday evening.
Sowers concluded the game 3-for-3 with four RBI.
On the hill, Sowers limited the Cougars to one earned run on two hits and logged 12 strikeouts in a complete-game effort.
Trent Murray added four hits, including a two-run homer for the Rams, and two RBI.
Greene Central (7-2 overall, 5-0 EPC) entertains Farmville Central on Tuesday.
