JV sports
• Baseball: Eastern Wayne 6, Triton 2 -- Ryan Faucette pounded out three hits, while Jeremy Lancaster batted 2-for-3 with two RBI. Tyler Warren contributed two hits. MJ Morgan, Josh Dixon, Tyler Huetter and Grayson Wells posted one hit apiece. Lancaster collected the mound win in a five-inning stint. Justin Lee logged the save with two innings of relief work. The Warriors travel to North Lenoir on Tuesday.
Middle schools
• Eastern Wayne 9, Norwayne 8 -- The Warriors' Jenna Rouse accounted for the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat the Cobras. Rouse ended the game 3-for-3 at the plate. Eighth-grader Rachel McCullom permitted three hits and logged nine strikeouts inside the pitcher's circle. Eastern Wayne (6-1 overall) visits Grantham on Monday.
