Whitby collected her fifth double-double, 26 points and 10 rebounds, of the season. The senior dished out a team-best five assists and shot 7 of 8 from the free throw line. Jones pumped in 20 points for the Trojans, who improved to 6-4 overall and 3-1 against league opposition this season.
Shaquanta McGee provided 14 points and six boards.
Joneiqua Gary's 3-pointer gave Mount Olive a 73-63 lead with 1:50 left to play. The Falcons cut the margin to six after a layup by Kellie Rhoney and a pair of free throws by Celeste Caudill.
Pfeiffer was under the limit and committed three fouls in 18 seconds to put Mount Olive on the free throw line. The Trojans missed the front end of a one-and-one with 36 seconds left and Brittany Cox's short jumper with 26 seconds left brought the Falcons within 73-69.
Jones was fouled immediately and hit 1-of-2 free throws to make it a five-point game. Pfeiffer got the offensive rebound on a missed three-point attempt, but Brittany Miller forced a turnover and Whitby sealed the win with a pair of free throws with three seconds left.
Men
MISENHEIMER -- Mount Olive trimmed a double-digit deficit to five points, but Chris Woods ignited a game-clinching run and led Pfeiffer to an 86-71 victory on the Conference Carolinas men's basketball scene Thursday evening.
Woods finished with 30 points, a school-record 20 rebounds and five blocked shots. He converted 10 of 12 shots from the floor and hit all 10 free throw attempts.
Derek Staton collected a team-high 22 points and six assists for the Trojans. Ewon Wright added 13 points, most of those coming on three 3-pointers during a two-minute span in the second half as Mount Olive attempted its comeback.
The Trojans' Mahamed Ibrahim scored 10 points. Freshman Dory Hines added nine points and a team-high six rebounds.
Mount Olive (6-5 overall, 1-2 CC) got as close as 74-69 on Staton's 3-pointer, but Woods scored on a putback of an offensive rebound and Pfeiffer was not threatened again. The Trojans missed their last five shots of the game and five of their last six free throw attempts.
