PIKEVILLE -- Short-handed Southern Wayne logged four top-four finishes during the 11th annual Falcon Invitational contested Saturday at Charles B. Aycock High School.

Senior Ethan Brogden ended up third at 160 pounds after a strange finish in that weight division. An ejection from the championship match led to point and medal changes that put Brogden on the podium.

Brogden compiled a 3-1 record, including two victories over Charles B. Aycock's Nick Simmons.

Travis Memmelaar (112 pounds), Jamison Dove (152) and Deshawn James (189) each placed fourth in their respective weight classes. Dove entered the tournament seeded No. 2, but suffered back-to-back one-point defeats to Aycock's Khaliel Owens and Rocky Mount's Quadrick Williams.

Devon Lee seized one victory at 215 pounds.

Brent Heath and Bumbi Le competed at 103 and 140 pounds, respectively.

The Saints, directed by head coach Brian Smiley, took just seven wrestlers to the 11-team event.
