Boys' basketball

Community Christian 68,

Wayne Christian 39

* WILSON -- Tyler Mooring led Wayne Christian with 11 points, six rebounds and four assists in a 68-39 loss on Thursday night at Carolina Christian 1-A Conference foe Community Christian.

Chase King contributed 10 points and four rebounds. Chandler Harrell supplied eight points and seven rebounds.

The Eagles (3-8 overall, 2-4 CCC) entertain Bethel Christian on Saturday.

Girls' basketball

Community Christian 40,

Wayne Christian 37

* WILSON -- Wayne Christian came up short in a 40-37 loss at Carolina Christian 1-A Conference foe Community Christian on Thursday night.

Brooke Barfield paced the Eagles with 10 points, Katie Isenhower provided seven points and 11 rebounds.

Summer Brathwaite had six points.

JV sports

* Boys' basketball: Wayne Christian 66, Community Christian 51 -- The Eagles' Dylan Smith poured in 32 points to go with four rebounds and two blocks. Chris Easom added 22 points, 12 rebounds and four steals. Wayne Christian improved to 8-0 overall this season.

Middle schools

* Boys' basketball: Wilson Christian 41, Wayne Christian 27 -- Victor Kokiko scored 11 points for Wayne Christian. The Eagles entertain Faith Christian of Rocky Mount on Saturday.

* Girls' basketball: Rosewood 38, Eastern Wayne 35 -- Callie Thornton provided 14 points for the Eagles. Krystal Yelverton finished with 12 points Lexi Mercer had 10. Rosewood (9-0 overall) is the guest of Spring Creek on Monday.
