JEAN CRAWFORD SASSER EDGERTON

Jean Crawford Sasser Edgerton, 89, passed away Tuesday, July 10, at Barbour Court Nursing and Rehab in Smithfield, following a brief illness.

Jean was born on April 29, 1929, in Wayne County to the late Nathan and Rosa Dean Crawford.

She worked for many years as an inspector with General Electric.

Jean was a longtime member of Nahunta Friends Meeting. She was devoted to her church and was involved in many activities where she utilized her gifts and abilities to share the love of God. For many years, Jean was responsible for the flowers being placed in the church and they adorned the altar every Sunday for over fifty years.

Above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be missed.

The family will receive friends Friday, July 13, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service to celebrate her life at 11 a.m. in the chapel with her pastor, Eric Woods, officiating. Interment will be in Wayne Memorial Park.

Jean is survived by her daughters, Edith Cook of Pikeville, Terry Woods and husband, Joe of Asheville and Tammy Taylor and husband, Phillip of Pikeville; son, Eddie Sasser of Pikeville; stepson, Sonny Edgerton of Pikeville; brother, Bill Crawford and wife, Evelyn of Pikeville; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Rudolph Sasser and Ralph Eugene Edgerton and brothers, Floyd Crawford and Thurman Crawford.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Nahunta Friends Church, 2537 N.C. 581 N., Pikeville, N.C., 27863.
