Adrian Sherill Baker, 84, passed away Wednesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Sherill was born July 5, 1934, in Wilson County to the late Ernest and Leona Baker.

He served in the United States Army in Germany during the 1950s.

Sherill worked for Long Manufacturing in Tarboro before moving to Goldsboro in 1970 to open Pizza Inn. He managed Pizza Inn in Goldsboro, for many years before becoming an area supervisor. Sherill retired in 1997.

He was a lifetime member of Goldsboro Elks Lodge.

A service to celebrate Sherill’s life will be Sunday, July 15, at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home chapel.

The family will receive friends following the service.

Sherill is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Ellen Whitley Baker; his sons, David Wayne Baker and wife, Allison, of McCaysville, Ga., and Brian Whitley Baker and wife, Penny, of Goldsboro; granddaughter, Alexandra Baker; and a brother, Alvis Baker of Macclesfield.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534, or Disabled American Veterans Charitable Service Trust, 3725 Alexandria Pike, Cold Spring, Ky., 41076.
