MILDRED GODWIN ANDERSON

MILDRED GODWIN ANDERSON

Aug. 5, 1933-May 28, 2018

Mildred Godwin Anderson, Dudley, passed away Monday at Kitty Askins with her beloved daughter, Kaye, by her side.

Mildred was born in Wilson County Aug. 5, 1933, to the late Steven Thomas Godwin and Elsie Marie Lemon Godwin. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Rudolph W. Anderson.

Mildred lived a life exemplified by love for her family. She expressed her love not just in words, but in all that she did.

She stayed up late sewing so that her daughter would have new clothes for school.

She showed up at every grandchild’s ball game, ready with a snack, no matter how hot the summer day. And she lit up, giving out kisses and hugs, for her two great granddaughters.

Always kind, always thankful, our “Mammie Bones” taught us how to love generously.

A service to remember Mildred will be held by the graveside Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the cemetery.

Mildred is survived by her daughter, Kaye Scott of LaGrange; grandchildren, Stephanie Scott Adams and husband, Daniel, and Jamie Lee Scott and fianceé, Betty Ann; and two great-grandchildren, Eleanor Adams and Georgia Adams.

She is also survived by her half-brother, Stephen Godwin of Wilmington, and half-sisters, Linda Turner of Goldsboro, Janet Faye Crouse of Florida, Helen Williams of Fremont and Mary Sue Carrier of Florida.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Greg Scott.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to the American Heart Association, 3219 Landmark St., Greenville, N.C., 27834.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
