PENNY S. VINSON

June 20, 1943-Dec. 2, 2017

On Saturday morning, Dec. 2, 2017, Penny Steele Vinson, 74, of Goldsboro, moved to her Heavenly home. Penny was a godly woman who loved the Lord and her family and set an example for her children and grandchildren that will lead them all their lives.

Penny was born in Stony Point, N.C., on June 20, 1943, to the late J.L. and Mildred Smith Steele. She was a valued employee of J.C. Penney in Goldsboro. Penny loved Providence United Methodist Church and was a dedicated and faithful servant. She had also served as the executive director of the Miss Goldsboro Pageant for 11 years. Penny had a sparkle in her eye and a heartwarming, generous spirit, always making everyone feel at home. She had a large extended circle of family and friends and they were all very special to her. She will be missed, but greatly remembered.

The family will receive friends on Monday, Dec. 4, 2017 from 2 to 3 p.m. in the fellowship hall of Providence United Methodist Church, followed by a service to celebrate Penny's life at 3 p.m. in the sanctuary, with the Rev. Jim Huskins and the Rev. Jerry Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Penny is survived by her husband of 52 years, William Glenn Vinson; sons, Billy Vinson and wife, Vickie, of Taylorsville and Brian Vinson and wife, Christy, of Goldsboro; sister, Pansy Steele of Virginia Beach, Va.; brother, Bud Steele of Norfolk, Va.; and grandchildren, Caroline Vinson and Grace Vinson. She is also survived by Bill's family, and several nieces and nephews she loved very much.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Beth-Ellen Vinson.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the compassionate care provided by Community Home Care and Hospice. Love and heartfelt thanks is also expressed to her caregivers and friends, Elaine Artis, Carolyn Parker, JoAnn Guthrie, and Kay Bradley.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be given in Penny's memory to Providence United Methodist Church, 202 Providence Church Road, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
