Sonya Michelle Harris, 49, died Tuesday at Wayne UNC Health Care.
Memorial service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Christopher Road Baptist Church of Shelby.
She was born in Pitt County Aug. 13, 1967, to Jeannette Buck Newbern and the late Charlie Wayland Harris.
Visitation will follow the service. The family will receive friends at other times at the home of her brother, Greg, 2717 Blacksburg Road, Earl, N.C.
Arrangements are by Howell Funeral Home and Crematory.
