He enjoyed reading, auctions, yard sales, and most importantly spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Pauline.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Perkins Collins; daughter, Miranda Mooring and husband, Darby, of Pikeville; daughter, Christy Duval and husband, Danny, of Gulf Port, Miss.; son, Danny Edgerton and wife, Melissa, of Pikeville; grandchildren, Megan Mooring, Collin Beasley, Audawen Mooring, Malaya Mooring, Courtney Duval, Hunter Duval, Justin Edgerton, Tyson Edgerton and Anderson Edgerton; sister, Georgie Margaret Collins Gross and husband, Harold, Gross of Graham, N.C., and his furry companion, Snowball.

The family would like to extend special gratitude to Dr. Young Whang, the UNC Chapel Hill staff, and his Pinkney Missionary Baptist Church family. Flowers are appreciated, but donations can be made to Pinkney Missionary Baptist Church.
