FRANCES PARRISH RAINS BRITT

Frances Parrish Rains Britt, 90, Princeton, died Wednesday morning at her home.
Born Sept. 20, 1925, in Johnston County, she was the last living of nine children born to the late Otis L. and Malissa Garner Parrish.
Fran was first married to Lynwood Rains, the father of her two biological children.
Following his death, she married Thomas Weeks Britt July 15, 1978, at which time her family grew to seven children. Tom died Oct. 12, 2008.
She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Tom Talton, and a grandson, Justin Britt.
Fran attended Princeton United Methodist Church for many years, and also enjoyed quilting, especially with the Tee’s Chapel Church quilting group.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 14, 2016, in Princeton United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. in the church fellowship hall just prior to the service and immediately following the service.
The burial will take place at 10 a.m. Friday in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Surviving are her sons, Lynwood Rains Jr. and wife, Barbara, of Princeton, Larry Britt and wife, Sue, of Newton Grove and Wayne Britt and wife, Paulette, of Apex; daughters, Frankie R. Talton of Princeton, Sylvia Giddens and husband, Bill, and Pam Giddens and husband, Tom, all of Newton Grove and Kathy Melcher and husband, Don, of Dunn; 16 grandchildren, Chad (Dana) Talton, Jason (Brandi) Talton, Malissa (Wade) Graham, Michael (Amy) Rains, John (Candi) Rains, Carla Sutton, Melanie (Les) Spell, Adam (Ashley) Britt, Hillery (Jason) Barber, William Giddens, Megan (Matt) Phillips, Sarah (Garrett) Howell, Paula (Mike) Naklicki, Jareth Melcher, Everette Melcher and Julia Melcher; 24 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Frances Scarboro.
Although flowers will be appreciated, the family would prefer memorial contributions be made to Princeton United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 116, Princeton, N.C., 27569.
