Kathaleen Johnson Bivens, 89, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center, surrounded by her family.

Kathaleen was born in Wayne County on June 9, 1927, to the late John J. Johnson and Guliar Hollowell Johnson. She was married to the late Johnnie D. Bivens. Kathaleen retired from R.G. So, too, will she be remembered for her compassionate spirit and soul, and her gift of finding joy in doing random acts of kindness for others. Family was paramount to Kathaleen, and she loved nothing more than her husband, her children and grandchildren.

A service celebrating Kathaleen's life will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with her son-in-law, the Rev. Tony McLamb, and the Rev. Gene Waters officiating. Interment will be in Pineview Cemetery.

Kathaleen is survived by her daughters, Pam Hood of Grantham, Joyce McLamb and husband, Tony of Goldsboro and Susan Elliott of Dudley; son, Lee Bivens of Goldsboro; sister, Beulah Parker of Princeton; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Johnnie D. (Danny) Bivens Jr.; granddaughter, Chasity Sunshine Elliott; grandson, Jeff Hood; great-granddaughter, Miranda Whitman; four sisters and two brothers.

The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of Joyce and Tony McLamb.
