Mrs. Gloria Mae Brown, 80, 1431 Airport Road, Pikeville, N.C., passed away Monday, May 23, 2016, at her residence.
A celebration of her life will be held noon Friday, May 27, 2016, at White Oak Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church, 2261 Big Daddy's Road, Pikeville, N.C. Pastor Dorian Suggs will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in Spruill Family Cemetery of Wayne County.
Mrs. Gloria Mae Brown was born May 21, 1936, in Wayne County, N.C.
She attended the Wayne and Greene County public schools.
Gloria lived in Long Island, N.Y., most of her adult life.
After retiring from Nassau County Medical Center, she returned to Wayne County, N.C.
She was preceded in death by her father and stepmother, Marvin and Bertha Edwards Brown; her mother, Elnora Worrells Brown; and three sons, Kenneth, Alvin and Vincent Brown.
Loving memories are cherished by one grandson, Maurice Simmons of Walterboro, S.C.; two sisters, Arlene Powell of Norfolk, Va., and Edna Brown Artis (Craston) of Goldsboro, N.C.; her nieces, Renee Powell Speight of Norfolk, Va., and Diedra Artis of Los Angeles, Calif.; her nephews, William and Michael Joyner of Goldsboro, N.C., Timothy Powell of Norfolk, Va., and Craston Artis II of Raleigh, N.C.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Arrangements are being handled by Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 726 Tarboro St. SW., Wilson, N.C.
