Bernadette Mary Cook, 73, of Goldsboro passed away Sunday, April 10, 2016, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A celebration of her life will be held Tuesday, April 12, 2016, from 6 until 8 p.m. at 103 Penn Circle in Goldsboro.

Mrs. Cook was born in Canada on March 3, 1943, to the late Charles Alfred and Gertrude Stapleton French. She was a registered nurse with Wayne Memorial Hospital.

She is survived by a son, James Daniel Cook, and girlfriend, Vanessa Fletcher; daughters, Jennifer Eileen Mercer (son-in-law, Brett) and Amy Noelle Cook; granddaughters, Chelsea Brooks Mercer and Hayley Madison Mercer and grandson, Jeremy Brett Mercer and a sister, Virginia (Ginni) Minchew.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Alfred French Jr.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be directed to SMOC Cure for Colors, 203 Cox Blvd., Goldsboro, N.C. 27534.

The family would like to thank SMOC and the staff on the 4th Floor of Wayne Memorial Hospital for the excellent care and support they provided.

The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro.
