JEAN OATES WESTBROOK
May 22, 1924-March 9, 2016
Jean Oates Westbrook, 91, Newton Grove and Mount Olive, N.C., passed away Wednesday, March 9, at her home in Mount Olive.
Her parents, John Martin Oates Sr. and Blanche Sutton Oates, preceded her in death, as did her husband, John Westbrook Jr., and six brothers, Rudolph Oates, George E. Oates, Ralph Oates, M. Ronald Oates, John M. Oates Jr. and J.W. "Bunk" Oates.
Her siblings, Hilda O. Jones, Hugh F. Oates Sr. and Miriam O. Grimes, and a brother-in-law, J.B. Westbrook, survive her, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She worked for the FBI in Washington, D.C., for a number of years.
She was an active member of Pleasant Union Christian Church of Newton Grove, N.C., 28366, and an active member of Eastern Star.
Her funeral services will be held Saturday, March 12, 2016, at Pleasant Union Christian Church, 1920 Mount Olive Hwy., Newton Grove, N.C., with visitation from 1 to 2 p.m.; the service at 2 p.m. Officiating the service will be the Rev. Richard Weikel and the Rev. Anthony Westbrook. The interment will be immediately following at Hillcrest Cemetery Newton Grove, N.C.
