Capt. Johnnie Raymond Flowers Jr., 85, Goldsboro, passed away Wednesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Johnnie was born in Johnston County April 9, 1930, to the late Johnnie Raymond Flowers and Cassie Mitchell Flowers.

He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1957, and later served as a pilot with Piedmont Airlines from 1957 to 1989.

Johnnie was a member of Northview Baptist Church and a member of the Piedmont Silver Eagles.

The family will receive friends Saturday, March 12, 2016, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service celebrating Johnnie's life at 2 p.m. in the chapel, with Rev. Ronnie Weaver officiating. Entombment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Johnnie is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley Ann Hadden Flowers; son, Neal Gaston Flowers and wife, Kate Jung, of San Francisco; daughter, Karen Flowers Maddry and husband, Lawrence, of Richmond, Va.; and sisters, Ernestine Holland of Virginia and Elva Whitley of Kenly.
