WILLIE RAY HERRING

Graveside services for Mr. Willie Ray Herring will be held Saturday, July 18, at 4 p.m. in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive, with the Rev. Lee Britt officiating.
Mr. Herring, 90, passed away early Thursday morning, July 16.
Son of the late Noah and Mittie Goff Herring, he was a native of the Rones Chapel community near Mount Olive, had been a farmer and he and his wife, Mary Lucille Herring, operated Willie Ray Herring Store.
After their retirement, they relocated to Carolina Beach, where they operated an arcade, and following her death in 2010, he returned to Mount Olive, becoming a resident at Genesis Care Center.
Surviving are two stepsons, Harold Mabe and wife, Hilda, of Mount Olive and Jerry Mabe and wife, Kris, of Denver, Colo.; seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Tyndall Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
