THEODORE 'TED' HEGLER

June 21, 1930-July 18, 2015

Theodore "Ted" Banks Hegler, 85, died Saturday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Born in Richmond County, he was the son of the late Ernest Clifford Hegler and Cassie Hooks Hegler, and husband of the late Helen Brown Hegler.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Buford Hegler, and sisters, Pat Carter, Jean Williams, Dorothy Tenbrook and Rose Hegler.

Ted devoted 44 years to the utility service industry with Southeast Public Service Co., retiring as a division manager.

He was a past member of the National Safety Council, International Shade Tree Organization, National Arbors Association, Society of Safety Engineers, Goldsboro Moose Lodge and Goldsboro Elks Lodge.

He was a charter member of both Northview Baptist Church and Goldsboro Exchange Club.

A service to celebrate Ted's life will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ronnie Weaver and the Rev. Frank Purvis officiating.

The family will greet friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in Wayne Memorial Park.

Ted is survived by his daughters, Ivy Lewis of Clinton, Rose Krieger and husband, Bruce, of Goldsboro; his sisters, Dara Southerland of Chester, S.C., and Wilma "Hope" Price of Mooresville; a brother, Johnny Hegler of China Grove, N.C.; six grandchildren, William Barnes, Aaron Barnes, Stephanie Spencer, Candace Gibbons, Reed Spencer and Alex Krieger; and eight great-grandchildren.
