KENNETH JAMES ROGERS

May 25, 1947-July 11, 2015

Ken "The King" Rogers, 68, Pikeville, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2015, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Ken was born in Long Beach, Calif., May 25, 1947, to the late John L. Brown and Barbara Stevens Sak.

He retired from Toyota Logistics in Carson, Calif.

Ken proudly served his country in the United States Navy.

He had a strong love for his country, and had a huge place in his heart for all the veterans.

Being a Vietnam veteran himself, he knew the sacrifice and love that the men and women of the Armed Forces gave for their country.

He was best known for introducing himself as "Hi, I'm Kenny Rogers -- just like the singer, only better looking."

Ken also had a love for NASCAR, and enjoyed watching the races Sunday afternoons with family and friends.

He had the opportunity to work with Mickey and Danny Thompson in the off-road racing series.

At Ken's request, no formal services will be held.

Ken is survived by his wife of 39 years, Sharon Maddock Rogers; son, Scott VanLue and wife, Christine, of Pikeville; daughters, Kelly Marie Rogers of California and Kristen Cook of Utah; brothers, Steven Michael Rogers and wife, Eleanor, and George Rogers; sister, Connie Darlene Brown; grandchildren, Ryan VanLue, Breanna VanLue, Darien Cook, Nicklaus Cook and Seth Cook; the Morgan and the Oakes families, whom he grew up with and thought of as his family; the entire Rogers family and Maddock family; his close friends, the Hughes family and Leggett family; and his special K-9 companion, Cheyenne.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kan., 66675.
