Frances Hill Powell, 87, Seven Springs, N.C., passed away Saturday, May 16, 2015, at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro, N.C.

She was born June 3, 1927, in the Smith's Chapel community near Mount Olive, and was the daughter of the late Oscar C. and Eloise Taylor Hill.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Alton Powell.

She is survived by her two sons and their wives, Alton Douglas Powell and Janice of Lillington, N.C., and Kiner Dean Powell and Jan of Goldsboro, N.C.

She is also survived by two grandchildren, Alton Douglas Powell II and his wife, Rachele, of Granite Falls, N.C., and Troy Garland Powell and his wife, Charla, of Summerville, S.C.; two stepgrandchildren, Becky Jones and husband, John, and Brad Gordon; five great-grandchildren, Andrew Powell, Anissa Powell, Luke Powell, Daniel Powell and Stephen Powell; and three stepgreat-grandchildren, Clay Jones, Summer Smith and Alisha Gordon.

She is survived by a sister, Barbara Ann Cole and husband, Homer, of Conway, S.C.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn H. Powell, and Annie Sue Blacketeer, and two brothers, Durwood and Shelton Hill.

Mrs. Frances had a love for art, in which she spent time painting and creating jewelry for family and others to share, and always looked forward to sharing her talents with the children in the church at the annual Bible School meetings.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 19, in the chapel of Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive, N.C., at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Doug Johnson officiating the service. Burial will follow at Pineview Cemetery in Seven Springs.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 6 to 8 p.m., and at other times, at the home of Ms. Frances.
