SAM WESTBROOK

Dec. 2, 1976-Mar. 12, 2015

Sampson Love "Sam" Westbrook Jr., 38, of Goldsboro, peacefully passed away Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Sam was born Dec. 2, 1976 in Lenoir County to Sampson Love "Sammy" Westbrook and Marion Harrison Westbrook. Sam had a deep passion for the outdoors and fishing. He was most happy when out on his boat and nothing was more pleasing than the tug of a fish on the line, no matter the size.

Sam enjoyed both the beach and the mountains. With a smile that would light up a room, people gravitated to Sam wherever he was. He had a way of connecting with everyone he came in contact with. Sam was always willing to help others in need. He loved music and was self-taught on the guitar.

Sam last worked with Wynn Odom Ford where he served as service director for 12 years. This was the ideal place to work for someone who loved the Ford Mustang.

A service of remembrance will be held Monday, March 16, 2015 at 7 p.m. from Rouse Funeral Home with the Rev. Sherman Guthrie officiating. A private interment will be held at Mewborn Family Cemetery.

In addition to his parents, Sam is survived by a son, Jackson G. Westbrook; a sister who was like a second mother, Valerie Klem and husband, Ken; and a special nephew, Johnathan Klem. Sam was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne Edwards Groves and Allen Groves.

The family will receive friends Monday following the memorial service. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rousefh.com. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the Jackson G. Westbrook Education Fund through the State Employees Credit Union.

Sam's family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Samer Kasbari, Wayne Memorial Hospital 4th Floor Oncology Staff and Kitty Askins Hospice Center for their loving care and support. Arrangements are with Rouse Funeral Home, LaGrange.
