Rufus Barron Harrell, 67, resident of the Beautancus community near Mount Olive, died unexpectedly Saturday morning, Feb. 14, 2015, at his home.

Services will be held today at 7 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home with visitation following. Burial will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Austin Swinson Cemetery.

Barron, son of the late Wilbur W. and Margaret Harrell, was co-owner/operator of Harrell Moving Company, Inc. and Mount Olive Tire Service. An avid hunter, especially for squirrel, he also enjoyed fishing. He was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith and was a native of the Thunder Swamp area, west of Mount Olive.

He is survived by his wife, Ramona Swinson Harrell, of the home; four children, Robin Harrell Smith of Calypso, Amanda Harrell of Charleston, S.C., Craig Lane of Mount Olive and Sherrie Lane Bass and husband, Michael, of Apex; five grandchildren, Chesney Brown, Lydia, Eliza, William and Ainsley Bass; two sisters, Alice H. Baumann of Kenansville and Sheila M. Harrell of Mount Olive; two brothers, the Rev. Vance Harrell and wife, Sandra and Mark Harrell and wife, Sheila Gray Harrell, all of Mount Olive; Donnie Jackson Byrd of Calypso, Robin and Amanda's mother; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial gifts may be made to American Lung Association or the local humane society.

Arrangements are with Tyndall Funeral Directors.
