MASTER SGT. JOSEPH BARNABAUS JOHNSON (USMC)

Retired United States Marine Corps Master Sgt. Joseph Barnabaus "J.B." Johnson, 74, Goldsboro, passed away Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014, at Rex Hospital in Raleigh after an extended illness surrounded by his family.

He was a graduate of Rosewood High School, and served proudly in the United State Marine Corps for 22 years.

He was the son of the late Luther and Sophie Johnson, as well as the brother of the late Edward Preston Johnson.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Marian Johnson; his sons, Joey Johnson and wife, Christine, and Michael Johnson and wife, Kelly; his grandchildren, Kayla Reed-Oquita and Ty Johnson; and his great-granddaughter, Adaleyna.

He is also survived by his brother, Albert Johnson and wife, Evelyn.

He will be remembered as a devoted husband and a source of continuous strength to his sons. He was a passionate and caring grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 2, 2015, at Seymour Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015, at Hastings Cemetery in the Rosewood community. Anyone wishing to attend the funeral is asked to meet at Seymour Funeral Home at 10:15 a.m. Saturday morning.
