ANNIE H. BUTTS

Sept. 13, 1926-Dec. 9, 2014

Annie Haddock Butts, 88, Goldsboro, went to be with her Lord Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2014, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her loving family.

Annie was born in Lenoir County Sept. 13, 1926, to the late Charles Christopher Haddock and Inez Grant Haddock. She was married to the late Elvin Ray Butts.

Annie attended Woods Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.

She was employed for more than 30 years at Sutton Shoe Store and the Men's Den in LaGrange.

Following her retirement, Annie worked at Stonewall's Restaurant in Coker's Mill community until the age of 82.

Annie raised her children on the farm that she dearly loved.

She was loved by all who knew her. Annie loved life and the life she had with her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

God has blessed her with all His love, and she will live forever in all of our hearts. We will see her one day in heaven; she is at rest now in the arms of God. He was her strength and ours, too.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014, at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service celebrating Annie's life at 7 p.m. in the chapel, with her son, Dr. Elvin Butts, and the pastor of Woods Grove Church, the Rev. Barry Teague, officiating. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 12, 2014, in Fairview Cemetery in LaGrange.

Annie is survived by her children, Annie Mildred Britt and husband, Bob, of Wilmington, Rosemary "Pee Wee" Barden and husband, Kemp, of Goldsboro, Pamela Stewart and husband, Dennis, of Goldsboro and Elvin Butts and wife, Paula, of Dunn; grandchildren, Melissa Newsome and husband, Brent, Neil Stewart, Amanda Merritt and husband, Chris, Ray Butts and wife, Nina, and Paul Butts and wife, Crystal; and seven great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her brother, Marvin Haddock of Princeton.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, C.H. Haddock and Lindy Sauls; sisters, Fran McDougald and Lina Wendell; and stepmother, Clyde Haddock.

We would like to give a very special thank you to the wonderful staff at Kitty Askins Hospice Center for the love and care it provided for Annie during her final days. Simple words cannot express our gratitude.

Also a thank you to the caregivers at Willow Creek, who cared for Annie over these past years.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Heritage Bible College, 1747 Bud Hawkins Road, Dunn, N.C., 28334, or Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
