JACK JONES

James Emmett "Jack" Jones Jr., 88, LaGrange, peacefully passed away Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014.
Jack was born Aug. 12, 1926, in Lenoir County to the late James Emmett Jones and Lucy Brothers Jones.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anita Sutton Jones; grandson, Reed Walmsley; and a sister, Ruth J. Rouse.
He served his country in the United States Navy, and then returned home to work the family farm.
Jack had a wonderful sense of humor, and never took himself too seriously. He was a great father, a good friend and one with a generous heart.
A man of many talents, Jack was passionate about cooking, net fishing, decoy carving, dancing and good music. Jack enjoyed being around people, and nothing was more pleasing to him than to see others happy and enjoying a good time. This led to the establishment of Jack's Clubhouse, which served as a place for Jack and friends to enjoy good fellowship.
Jack was active in his community.
He was a longtime member of LaGrange United Methodist Church and a former police commissioner with the town of LaGrange, and was also a Mason and Shriner.
A service to celebrate and honor Jack's life will be held Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ray Teague officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Jack is survived by three children, Sue Walmsley and husband, John, Martha Lynn Horne and husband, Dean, and Jimmy Jones and wife, Kay; four grandchildren, Leigh Anna Jones, Jennifer Walmsley, Chad Horne and Jay Horne; along with a great-grandchild, Taylor Reed Askenstedt.
A time of fellowship and visitation will follow the committal service at Jack's Clubhouse.
