DOROTHY H. WATERS

Dorothy Holmes Waters, resident of White Flash community near Mount Olive, passed away Thursday afternoon, Oct. 23, at Vidant Duplin Hospital. She was 78 years old.
Funeral services for her will be held Saturday, Oct. 25, at 6 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jan Fucilli officiating, followed by visitation. Burial will be Sunday, Oct. 26, at 3 p.m. at Waters Family Cemetery.
Family and friends are also being received at the residence.
She had been employed with Duplin General Hospital (now Vidant Duplin) with a long tenure of loyal service.
Survivors include a daughter, Dawn W. Mercer of Mount Olive; three sons and daughters-in-law, Gary Lynn and Teresa Waters and Buddy and Lecinda Waters all of Mount Olive and Dennis and Ann Waters of LaGrange; nine grandchildren, Jason, Reece, Tiffany, Dennis Jr., Michael, Josh and Luke Waters, John Kirby and Emilee Boyette; three great-grandchildren, Taylor Marie Boyette and Natalie and Leslie Waters; a brother, Lynn Holmes of Mount Olive; three sisters, Eva H Brock and Haddie H. Brock both of Mount Olive and Lucille H. Winders of Rocky Mount; four sisters-in-law, Clara Belle B. Holmes, Jean Holmes Horne, Ava Gray Price and husband, Bud, and Ruth H. Whitfield and husband, Jay, all of Mount Olive; and many nieces and nephews.
Those preceding her in death include her husband, Ernest John Waters; her parents, Abb and Mary Owens Holmes; a sister, Bertha H. Davis; four brothers, James "Sonny" Holmes, Alva "Junior" Holmes, Durwood Holmes, Edward Earl "Baby" Holmes; and a little brother, Robie Jackson Holmes.
