Mavis Thigpen Benefield, 77, died Wednesday with all her family by her side in Vidant Edgecombe Hospital.
Funeral service Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Unity Fellowship Church, 697 Community Drive, Goldsboro. The Rev. Kelvin Gurley will officiate.
The family will receive friends at Unity Fellowship Church from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Committal service will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, 3888 U.S. 70 West in Goldsboro.
Surviving are a son, Al Cotter (Lauren) of Rosewood; daughters, Phyllis Spence of Lexington, S.C., and Sherry Tedder (Donald) of Wilmington; a brother, Billy Thigpen (Susan) of Shelby; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Benefield was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth Mara Owens Thigpen and Woodrow Thigpen, and her husband, Richard P. Benefield.
She was a member of Whitley Pentecostal Holiness Church.
