DORIS MARIE HALL HOLMES

Doris Marie Hall Holmes, 73, Pine Level, N.C., died unexpectedly Monday, Aug. 25, 2014.
She was born Jan. 27, 1941, in Four Oaks, N.C., to the late Jessie Beasley Hall Holloman and C. F. Hall.
Doris will be remembered as a beautiful person who had a compassion for the needy, as well as those who were unable to care for themselves.
She enjoyed working outside in her yard with her beautiful flowers.
She also had a great love for animals, especially her little Chihuahua, Dorcy, whom she adored.
Doris was retired as a nursing assistant, and in her earlier years, she was a secretary with T.A. Loving Co. in Goldsboro, N.C.
In addition to her son, Ted Holmes, she is survived by four sisters, Cassie (Kenneth) Hansley of Four Oaks, Dorothy (Michael) Whaley of Goldsboro, Julia (Bob) McCray of Abilene, Texas, and Margie (Harry) Godwin of Selma, a brother, Jesse James Hall of Pine Level; several nephews; a niece; and a special friend of the family, Vicki Hare of Wilson, N.C.
Following the cremation at West and Dunn Funeral Home in Benson, N.C., a private funeral will be held at Hills of Neuse Cemetery in Smithfield, N.C.
