LUDY PEARL WESTBROOK WOODRING

Ludy P. Westbrook Woodring, 86, Princeton, N.C., went home to be with her Lord and savior Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Sampson County and reared in Bass Town, she was the daughter of the late Walter William Westbrook and Magnolia Bass Westbrook.

Ludy dedicated her life to her family and friends, and showed her love each and every day through words of encouragement or by simply listening.

She was known for her delicious country cooking and her famous cakes and pies.

She was a caretaker to all she loved, and showed her grace and courage while battling a longterm illness for the last nine years.

She was a member of Princeton Baptist Church, serving in many capacities such as Sunday school teacher, nursery worker and on the bereavement committee.

She is survived by her children, daughter, Beverly Best and husband, Donald, son, Ricky Woodring and wife, Julie, son, Tony Woodring, and daughter, Tammy Holt and husband, David, all of Princeton, N.C.; a brother, Pete Westbrook and wife, Geraldine, of Clinton, N.C.; and six grandchildren, Hannah B. Johnson and husband, Matthew, Morgan Woodring, Noah Holt, Justin Woodring, Kelsey Woodring and Lee Woodring all of Princeton.

She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Eugene "Woody" Woodring, as well as four brothers and six sisters.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014, at Casey Funeral Home in Princeton.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25, 2014, at Princeton Baptist Church, 211 S. Pearl St., Princeton, N.C., 27569. Burial will follow at Princeton Cemetery.

Although flowers are welcome, memorial contributions may be made to Princeton Baptist Church, P.O. Box 215, Princeton, N.C., 27569, or the National Kidney Foundation, 4701 Hedgemore Drive, Suite 810, Charlotte, N.C., 28209-2280.

The family would like to thank her special caregivers Ms. Edna Hinson and Mrs. Shannon Miller for their love and support. The family would also like to thank the staffs of Johnston Dialysis of Smithfield and 3HC (Home, Health, and Hospice Care) for their outstanding care.
