J. HORACE MIZELLE

April 23, 1937-Aug. 21, 2014

James Horace Mizelle, 77, Rocky Mount resident, passed away Thursday, Aug. 21, at Duke Hospital.

His career began with Carolina Telephone and Telegraph Co., and ended with Sprint Telephone Co. as a department manager.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Rocky Mount ward, at 3224 Woodlawn Road, and had been a truck parts salesman in his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Roscoe Mizelle and Gladys Inez Roberson Mizelle; a sister, Nellie M. Harrison; and his father-in-law, Wilbert Hill.

Mr. Mizelle is survived by his wife, Linda Faye Hill Mizelle of the home; a daughter, Christi Smith Brantley of Savannah, Ga.; two sons, Scott Raegan Mizelle of Rocky Mount and Tim Mizelle of Crawfordville, Fla.; his grandchildren, Brittany Smith, Amber Brantley, Chelsea Mizelle, Tyler Mizelle and Kylie Hanson; his special mother-in-law, Christine A. Hill of Rocky Mount; and two sisters, Peggy M. Biggs of Greenville and Yvonne M. White and husband, Robert, of Richmond, Va.

Visitation was held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Rocky Mount Ward, Saturday, Aug. 23, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Graveside funeral service will be Monday, Aug. 25, at 11 a.m. at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Kinston. Stake president Alvis Hamilton, Mike Armstrong and Bishop Walter Compton will be speakers at the service.

Flowers are welcome or memorial gifts may be made to Duke Hospital in his memory, 2302 Erwin Road, Durham, N.C., 27705.

Tyndall Funeral Home of Mount Olive is in charge.
