DAVID E. FULGHUM

Jan. 30, 1948-Aug. 21, 2014

David Edward Fulghum, 66, lifelong Mount Olive resident, passed away suddenly Thursday morning, Aug. 21, at Rex Hospital.

David, a well known concrete contractor, had several business ventures during his working career. First, he established and operated David Fulghum Construction Co., and then he formed Concrete Supply, after which he and eldest son, George, were co-owners and operators of Concrete Specialties, which son George solely operates today.

Mr. Fulghum continued to do demolition type work until his death.

He was an avid sportsman, and though he wasn't one to regularly attend worship services, he was a God-fearing man, and possessed a deep abiding faith.

A loving family survives Mr. Fulghum, which includes his wife, Donna Waller Fulghum; his mother, Doris Jernigan Fulghum of Mount Olive; his children, George and Lynne Fulghum of Mount Olive, Jody and Emily Fulghum of Durham and Jody and Amy Fulghum of LaGrange; five precious grandchildren, David Allen Fulghum, Georgia Lynne Fulghum, Stephen Thomas Fulghum, Lilly Rose Fulghum and Katherine Elizabeth Fulghum; and two sisters, Verlyn F. Baker of Burgaw and Judy F. Fuller of Mount Olive.

He was preceded in death by his father, George Edward Fulghum, and stepfather, Edward Morton Ellis.

The family will have visitation at Tyndall Funeral Home Wednesday, Aug. 27, beginning at 5:30 p.m., with a graveside service to follow at 7 p.m. in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive. Officiating minister will be the Rev. Steve Wicks.

Memorial gifts may be sent to the charity of one's choosing.

A Tyndall service.
