GRANVILLE "BOB" SMITH JR.

Granville Robert "Bob" Smith Jr., 76, resident of Hanover, Md., died Monday, Aug. 18, in a Baltimore hospital.

Funeral will be Saturday, Aug. 23, at 2 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral chapel of Mount Olive, officiated by the Rev. Paul Rose and Dr. Ken Williams, and with burial following at Pridgen Family Cemetery in the Beautancus community, Mount Olive. Full military honors will be rendered.

Visitation at the funeral home during the hour before services.

Bob had served in the United States Marine Corps, from which he retired, and was the recipient of three purple hearts.

He was also a retired police officer with Baltimore Police Department, and was a member of Severn United Methodist Church, the Marine Corps League and the American Heart Association.

He taught Red Cross classes, and enjoyed swimming, photography and keeping his yard manicured.

Survived by wife, Norma Pridgen Smith, a native of Beautancus; daughters, Teresa M. Tapp with husband, Robert, of Linthicum, Md., Barbara A. Smith of Baltimore and Robin C. Hoch with husband, Gordon, of Glen Burnie, Md.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
