Hallie Carlton Vinson Jr., 68, Goldsboro, passed away Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by his family.
Carlton was born in Wayne County Feb. 12, 1946, to the late Hallie Carlton Vinson Sr. and Mary Corbett Vinson.
He worked for many years as a truck driver with Wayne Oil Co.
A service celebrating Carlton's life will be held Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. J. Wesley Jarman officiating. Interment will be Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014, at 11 a.m. in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Carlton is survived by his wife, Connie Ezzell Vinson; daughter, Dawn West and husband, Bobby, of Pikeville; granddaughters, Ashley Henry and Amber Henry; sister, Teresa Jones and husband, Ronnie, of Goldsboro; and brother, Frankie Vinson and wife, Patsy, of Pikeville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Vinson.
The family will receive friends Monday following the service at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his home.
