Ret. Master Sgt. Robert "Bob" Patrick Arnold, 71, Goldsboro, passed away suddenly Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, at his home.

Bob was born in Erie, Pa., May 27, 1943, to the late Veronica Szesciorka Arnold and Clair Ladore Arnold.

He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force for 20 years, retiring March 31, 1983, with the rank of master sergeant.

Following his military career, Bob served for 20 years as a mail carrier with the United States Postal Service.

Bob attended The First Pentecostal Holiness Church, and was committed to his family, friends, church and community. He freely gave of his time and services, helping others through Habitat for Humanity and with building handicap ramps for those in need.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service celebrating Bob's life at 2 p.m. in the chapel, with the Rev. Bill Rose officiating. Interment will follow in Hastings Cemetery with military honors.

Bob is survived by his wife of almost 48 years, Fay Driver Arnold; daughter, Angela Arnold Somer and husband, Gregory, of Morrisville; son, Jonathan Lee Arnold and wife, Yared Zuniga-Cruz, of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Alexander Bennett Somer, Owen Michael Somer, Sarah Beth Somer and Meredith Somer; and his brothers, Matthew Oldach and James Arnold of Erie, Pa.

He is also survived by his special nephews, Mark Oldach, Scott Oldach, and Gary Oldach, and sisters-in-law, Jean Collier and Margie Hayden and husband, Bob.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Oldach.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, Va., 23058.
