Annie Laura Smith Jernigan Sills, 1230 Saulston Road, went to be with her Lord and savior Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, surrounded by her family.
Laura was born Sept. 13, 1923, in Greene County to the late Homer Alvis and Ava Bailey Smith.
Early in life, Laura had worked at Woolworth, and later at McLellan's.
In addition to her parents, Laura was preceded in death by her two husbands, Troy Jernigan Jr. and Joseph Henry Sills (Mickey); four sisters; four brothers; and a daughter, Janice Faye Jernigan
A service of remembrance will be held Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dock Hobbs officiating. Interment will be Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at 11 a.m. in Wayne Memorial Park.
Laura is survived by two daughters, Ruby Corlew and husband, Glenn, and Carolyn J. Fields and husband, David.
Also surviving are two sons, Troy E. Jernigan and wife, Anne, and Henry Allen Sills and wife, Jean, all of Goldsboro.
She has four granddaughters, Regina Wright, Wendy Schwind, Sonya Olmsted and April Daw; four grandsons, Troy Jernigan, Eric Jernigan, Scott Sills and Jeff Sills; and a number of great-grandsons and granddaughters, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday following the service at Seymour Funeral Home, and other times, at the home of Carolyn Fields, 1225 Stoney Creek Church Road, Goldsboro.
