LAVERN STEWART SYVERSON

LaVern Stewart Syverson, 71, was called to his heavenly home on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by his family.

Vern was born in Bagley Minnesota on March 22, 1942 to the late Carl Syverson and Clara Anderson Gulbranson. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and had worked with A.P. Parts. Following his retirement Vern became known as the community handyman. Vern attended Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 22, 2013 at Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Sherman Dilley officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends following the service in the church sanctuary.

Vern is survived by his wife, Diane Syverson; sons, Ronnie Syverson and wife Tammy of Goldsboro and Mike Syverson and wife Alison of Pikeville; grandchildren, Zachary, Ashley, and Gavin Syverson, and Mary-Catherine Talton and husband Bryan, Anna Bass and husband Andrew, Matthew Davis; a great-grandchild, Ella-Rose Talton; and a brother, Warren Syverson and wife Margaret of Thief River Falls, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley Syverson; sister, Janet Mathison; and a daughter-in-law Melanie Syverson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, NC 27534.
