Tempie Anne Barber Farfour, 78, passed away peacefully Dec. 19, 2013, at Liberty Commons in Benson, N.C.

She was born Nov. 10, 1935, to the late John and Virgie Barber near Newton Grove, N.C.

Tempie graduated from Clinton High School lettering in girls basketball all three years.

She then attended Wayne Community College's fledgling nurse's program, graduating as a licensed practical nurse in 1956.

She served at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Howell's Child Care Center and as nurse to Doctors Boyette, Powell and Bizzell.

Her love of children drew her to also operate Tippy's Tiny Tots Day Care for many years.

Tempie was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She also coached girls basketball for several years at St. Mary Catholic School.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George J. Farfour; her brothers, Hubert, Garland, Junior and James Barber; and her sister, Vinnie Hobbs.

She is survived by her sons, John J. Farfour and James C. Farfour and wife, Lisa, all of Goldsboro, N.C., and Col. George R. Farfour of F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyo.

Her adoring grandchildren include Alexandra, Caroline, Benjamin, Peyton, Alison, Ava and Alyssa Farfour.

She also has a great-granddaughter, Hayley James.

A Rosary will be held Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013, at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a time of visitation with the family from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at St. Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Patrick Keane presiding. Interment will follow in Willow Dale Cemetery.

Though flowers are welcome, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary Catholic School, 1601 Edgerton St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
