OSCAR L. PRICE

Oscar Price was born in Columbus, Texas, in 1934 to Frank and Veola Price.

He was educated in Colorado County Schools.

His military career began in 1954 when he joined the United States Air Force, where as a jet engine mechanic and supervisor. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, and after 24 years, retired in Goldsboro, N.C.

He continued his education at Saint Leo College, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in human resource management in 1988.

His civilian career included being a supervisor for many years at both Kemp Furniture Co. and Heavi-Duty Inc.

He was a long-standing member of First Assembly of God, now known as Goldsboro First Assembly, and served the church in many capacities, including treasurer on the church board, chairman of the church school board usher and as deacon.

Oscar went to be with the Lord Nov. 14, 2013.

He is survived by the love of his life, Marian E. Price of 54 years.

They were blessed with two children, a daughter, Lydia Price Gregg of Florida, and a son, Zachery Price of Goldsboro, N.C.

He loved and cherished four brothers and three sisters, Lorenza Price (deceased) of California, Frank Price of Chicago, Ill., Louis Price (deceased) of California and James Price of Texas, Verna Phillips (deceased) of California, Zettie Herbert of California and Margie Titus of Texas, and five grandchildren, Alexander Gregg, Anastasia Gregg, Elliott Gregg, Maxwell Gregg and Devante Price.

There are a host of nieces and nephews; three sisters- in-law, Susan Stewart of North Carolina, Mildred Bostic of Virginia, Blanche Smith of North Carolina; and three brothers-in-law, Fred Murchison of North Carolina, John Murchison (deceased) of North Carolina and Charles Murchison of New York.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Goldsboro First Assembly. Entombment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m.

Professional services are entrusted to Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro.
