GIBBIE S. CREECH

LAGRANGE -- Gibbie Bell Sutton Creech, 84, LaGrange, passed away Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013.
Gibbie was born Dec. 18, 1928, in Wayne County to the late Lloyd D. Sutton and Viola Parker Sutton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy "Bill" Redden Creech.
A lifelong homemaker and farmer's wife, Gibbie and Bill owned and operated Creech's IGA in Goldsboro and LaGrange, the Carolina Springs Restaurant and LaGrange Ace Hardware.
Gibbie was a longtime member of Garris Chapel United Methodist Church. She was part of a group of ladies who were instrumental in making quilts and chicken salad for the annual harvest sale.
Her life set an example for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren that will lead them all their lives.
A service of remembrance will be held Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jerry Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Gibbie is survived by three daughters, Gibbie Sue C. Sutton and husband, Charles, of LaGrange, Kathleen C. Durham and husband, David, of LaGrange and Patricia C. Day and husband, Richard, of Roxboro; four grandchildren, Mark Sutton and wife, Angie, of LaGrange, Robbie Sutton and wife, Sara, of LaGrange, Anna Day of Roxboro and Allison Day of Greenville; five sisters, Mary Lloyd Meyer of Kinston, Imogene Casey of Kinston, Annie Laura Casey of Goldsboro, Linda Foss of LaGrange and Jackie Price of Seven Springs; brother, James Sutton of LaGrange; and four great-grandchildren, Jenna Sutton, Courtney Worth, Rebekah Sutton and Rachel Sutton.
The family will receive friends Monday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home.
