EDNA COLE WATERS

Edna Inez Cole Waters, 92, passed away Friday morning at the University of North Carolina Hospital in Chapel Hill.

Born in Duplin County, she was the daughter of the late William Harvey "W.H." and Annie Inez Chesnutt Cole, and the wife of the late Robert Wilton Waters Sr.

She attended St. Mary School, and was a graduate of Goldsboro High School, a graduate of Pineland Junior College and the Internal Accounting School of Chicago, Ill.

She was active in her parents' business, W.H. Cole Grocery.

She was employed by Carolina Tractors Inc. for 20 years.

Mrs. Waters retired from the state of North Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation as an accountant.

She was a member of Brogden United Methodist Church in Dudley, and later attended New Hope Church in Chapel Hill.

During her retirement years, she and her husband traveled extensively with their RV. She visited all 50 states and abroad.

After moving to Chapel Hill to live with her daughter, she enjoyed attending the Seymour Center, meeting new people and being "Mema" to many.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

She is survived by her son, Robert "Bobby" Waters, and his wife, Cindy, of Charlotte; her daughter, Janice Inez Waters Tyler, and her husband, Richard, of Chapel Hill; and four grandchildren, Tiffany Waters Bolick, and her husband, Trevin, Richard "Trey" Tyler III, Amy Alabaster and Justin Alabaster.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Emma Cole Smith.
