JOAN ELIZABETH JORDAN

Joan Elizabeth Jordan, 72, Goldsboro, N.C., died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, in Chapel Hill, N.C., after a short illness.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at Jordan Family Cemetery in Kenly, immediately following visitation services scheduled for 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro. Mr. Steven West will officiate.

Mrs. Jordan was born in Warwick, N.Y., Jan. 21, 1941, to John Mann Jr. and Mary Brown Mann.

She graduated high school in 1959, and soon became a wife and mother.

Mrs. Jordan held a variety of occupations in her lifetime, including American Red Cross volunteer, assistant manager for Pic N Pay Shoes, school nurse and medical receptionist.

After her husband's retirement from the United States Air Force, the couple settled in Goldsboro, N.C.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, retired Col. James Richard and Lisa Jordan of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.; a daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Terry Keller of Council Bluffs, Iowa; four grandchildren, Matthew Jordan and Natalie, Amanda and Alexis Keller; two brothers and sister-in-law, John I. Mann of Salamanca, N.Y., and Harry J. and Betty Mann of New Hampton, N.Y.; sister-in-law, Marie Jordan Hassinger of Stuart, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Clifford Jordan.

Although flowers are welcome, memorial contributions can be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
