GRACE B. GURLEY

Grace Bartlett Gurley, 82, passed away Friday morning Sept. 6, 2013, at Vidant Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
Grace was born in Wayne County March 5, 1931, to the late Henry Lee and Daisy Best Bartlett.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris C. Gurley.
Grace was a very strong believer in Jesus Christ, and felt that nothing was impossible when you place your trust in God. His faith gave her the courage to face anything in life.
She was a longtime member of Oakland Community Church, where she sang in the choir and served as a deaconess. Grace was a caring, loving parent and grandparent whose primary goal was the happiness and security of her family.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Phil Bowden officiating. Interment will take place Monday, Sept. 9, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.
Grace is survived by her children, Marcie Dawson and husband, Rodney, of Seven Springs and Durand Gurley and wife, Jamie, of Rosewood; brother, Kenneth M. Bartlett of Dudley; sisters, Doris Boyette and Jo Ann Baumann both of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Rodney Victor Dawson Jr. and wife, Lisa, Stacie Sherl Dawson, Brantley Morris Gurley and Kendall Lynn Gurley; and great-grandsons, James Hoffman Dawson and William Morris Dawson.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Rhonda Jo Gurley.
The family will receive friends Sunday immediately following the service at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of Durand and Jamie Gurley.
