ROSE REE CRAWFORD PRICE

Jan. 4, 1928-Sept. 2, 2013

EMERALD ISLE -- Rose Price, 85, Emerald Isle, N.C., went to be with her Lord and savior Monday, Sept. 2, 2013, at Hunters-ville Oaks in Hunters-ville, N.C., following a brief illness and recent heart surgery.

She was born Jan. 4, 1928, in Jackson, Miss., to the late Walter Buford Cranford and Velma Easterling Cranford.

Rose was the fourth of five siblings. She was raised at a young age by two wonderful and loving foster parents, the late John and Mary Fowler of Vaughn, Miss., after the death of her parents.

She graduated from Pelahatchie High School in Pelahatchie, Miss., and worked in banking for 25 years.

She met her husband of 62 years, Richard Bruce Price, in New Orleans, and shared a wonderful military life before settling down in Goldsboro, N.C., and raising their two children, Tona and Robby.

Rose loved supporting Robby and Tona in their educational and athletic endeavors. She often bragged she had never missed a football game in Robby's 17 years of playing, from Little League to Appalachian State University.

After retiring to Emerald Isle, N.C., she and Bruce enjoyed the beach life. She met many kind and caring friends and neighbors. She lovingly spoke of her bingo friends, whom she called "her family away from home."

She enjoyed trips to Atlantic City to play the "slots" with her friends, and always pulling for her Chicago "Cubbies." Rose was always a loving, caring and giving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Rose is survived by her husband, Bruce; daughter, Tona Kirk and husband, John, of Coral Springs, Fla.; son, Robby Price and wife, Ellen, of Huntersville, N.C.; grandchildren, Shane Kirk and wife, Nichole, Cody Kirk and David Price; sister, Jean Peterman and husband, Doug, of Gulfport, Miss.; and many beloved nephews and nieces and their spouses.

She was preceded in death by her parents and foster parents, as well as her sisters, Annette Ledwith and Bernice Goodman, and brother, Bill Cranford.

The family will receive guests Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, at 11:30 a.m. at Jones Funeral Home, 407 Hammocks Road, Swansboro, N.C.

A memorial service will follow at 12:30 p.m. in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home, officiated by pastor Kevin Clubb. Burial will be at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, N.C., following the service.

Memorials may be made to Cape Carteret Baptist Church, 101 Anita Forte Drive, Cape Carteret, N.C., 28584, or Emerald Isle EMS, 7604 Emerald Drive, Emerald Isle, N.C., 28594.
