LAGRANGE -- Evelyn Mozingo Price, 87, LaGrange, peacefully passed away Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013.
Evelyn was born Sept. 9, 1925, in Wayne County to the late Eddie and Mattie Carter Mozingo.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ervin Chester Mewborn Jr. and Newby Price, and a son, CWO5 Ernie Chris Mewborn.
Evelyn retired from Caswell Center following 25 years of service, and was a longtime member of LaGrange First Missionary Baptist Church.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching, word searches and her back row corner seat at church. Evelyn loved working in her yard and fishing, and in earlier years, she could be seen religiously walking the sidewalks of LaGrange. Her Christmas goodies were enjoyed by many.
A service of remembrance will held Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Rouse Funeral Home, with the Rev. Brad Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Evelyn is survived by a daughter, Carol McKeel of Goldsboro; son, Carey Mewborn and wife, Jackie, of LaGrange; two grandchildren, Junior Mewborn and Todd Mewborn both of LaGrange; three great-grandchildren, Ashley Bratcher and husband, David, of Surf City, Kristin Mewborn of LaGrange and Caraleigh Mewborn of Goldsboro; great-great-grandson, Cohen Bratcher; two stepchildren, Vicky Griffin and husband, Dennis, and Glenn Price; her adopted church family, Lynn, Tammy, Lynsey and Jared Taylor; along with special friends and neighbors, Henry and Ira Edwards, Brayden "Honey" Crawford, Grace Burke and Phyllis Harrison.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Rouse Funeral Home.
