PIKEVILLE -- Cecil Worth Holland, 98, died Sunday with his family by his side.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Union Grove Free Will Baptist Church, 1283 Union Grove Church Road, Fremont, with the Rev. John Massengill and the Rev. Richard Glosson officiating. Committal will follow in Holland Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the church.

He is survived by two sons, Henry Holland (Gail) of Lenoir and John Holland (Ranie) of Pikeville; grandchildren, Adam Holland (Janet) of Granite Falls, Lori Holland Gibson of Pikeville and Jonathan Holland of Fremont; and nine great-grandchildren, John Austin Gibson, Lorissa Bailey Gibson, Caitlin Jade Holland, Alana Grace Holland, Lilly Holland, Rachel Holland, Charles Balance, Abigail Balance and Bryson Holland.

He was a native of the Sasser Mill community of Wayne County, and was preceded in death by his parents, Bessie Cagle Holland and Rufus Henry Holland; his wife of 64 years, Ruby Lee Ferrell Holland (2006); a grandson, Hank Holland; and a brother, Alton Holland.

Mr. Holland was an active member of Union Grove Free Will Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school superintendent.

He was also a member of Harmony Lodge No. 340 A.M. and F.M. of Pikeville.

The family suggests that memorials be may made to Union Grove Free Will Baptist Church, 1283 Union Grove Church Road, Fremont, N.C., 27830
