John Norwood Best, 77, passed away Thursday evening at home.
A graveside service was held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park with Pastor Bill Rose officiating. Family members will greet friends at the home.
Born in Wayne County, he was the son of the late John Herman and Myrtle Mae Worley Best, father of the late Danny Lee Best and brother of the late Tony Best. Norwood was a member of the Wayne County Horseless Carriage Club.
He is survived by his wife, Christine Best; two daughters, Sula Ann Teachey and husband, Eddie, of Saulston and Lisa Kaye Minchew and husband, Bill, of Rosewood; a sister, Nona B. Gray of Goldsboro; and three grandchildren, Carrie Teachey Lee and husband, Eric, Mackenzie Minchew and Mason Minchew.
