BOBBY SMITH

June 27, 1947-Dec. 2, 2012

EUREKA -- Robert Edward "Bobby" Smith, 65, passed away Sunday at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.

Bobby was born in Wayne County June 27, 1947, to Hazel Pender Smith of Goldsboro and the late E.P. Smith.

He was a retired carpenter.

Bobby was a true sportsman, most comfortable outdoors, on the water or in the woods. He especially enjoyed deer hunting and fishing.

Bobby will be remembered by many for his love of life and its varied possibilities. He spent many of his healthy years helping people and animals in need. There are many cherished animals that were given homes because of his care and concern for their welfare. He was devoted to his deer "Rudy" that he cared for until he could be released back into nature.

A service remembering Bobby will be held Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Eureka United Methodist Church, with his dear friend and brother-in-law, Ros Ballance, officiating. Burial will be in Eureka Cemetery, with the Rev. Bill Rose officiating.

In addition to his mother, Bobby is survived by his wife of 40 years, Debbie Head Smith; his daughters, Jill Smith Joyner of Eureka and Ginger Smith Wendt and husband, Josh, of Goldsboro; his son, Mark Kevin Smith and wife, Trina; his brother, Danny K. Smith and wife, Kathy, of Goldsboro; and his grandchildren, Jimmie Joyner, Kayla Wendt and Julianna Wendt.

He is also survived by his beloved Chihuahuas, labs and cats.

He was preceded in death by his father and his son, Robert Edward "Robbie" Smith Jr.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at Seymour Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. and other times at the home of his daughter, 362 Lindell Road, Stantonsburg.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, Va., 23058.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
