Timothy Joseph "T.J." Daniels, 69, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by his family.

T.J. was born in Wayne County Nov. 9, 1942, to the late Tim and Minnie Grady Daniels.

He was employed for many years at Goldsboro Iron and Metal.

T.J. was a true sportsman, most comfortable outdoors fishing or riding horses. He was a hunter of big and small game, and loved walking in the woods and fields with a gun and one of his dogs he had trained.

T.J. loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and he passed his love of the outdoors on to them. He also enjoyed the many camping trips he took with family and friends.

T.J. lived a life of dedication to his family and friends and to his community.

For many years, he served on the Grantham Volunteer Rescue Squad and the Grantham Volunteer Fire Department.

T.J. was also a member of Mount Olive Pentecostal Holiness Church.

The family will receive friends Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at Mount Olive Pentecostal Holiness Church, followed by a service to celebrate T.J.'s life at 2 p.m., with pastor Jeff Dail and pastor Doug Bartlett officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

T.J. is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda Brock Daniels; his daughters, Deana D. Hood and husband, Joey, of Goldsboro and Tracy D. Parker of Goldsboro; his grandchildren, Joseph Daniel Hood and Austin J. Parker; and his sister, Eleanor Ray Fail and husband, Richard, of Rosewood and their daughter, Cindy.

He was preceded in death by his nephew, Ricky Fail.
