ROGERS MARCELLOUS BLOUNT

July 29, 1956-Oct. 5, 2012

Rogers Marcellous Blount was born in Wayne County July 29, 1956, to the late William Henry and Bertha Swinson Blount. He departed this earthly realm Oct. 5, 2012, to be in the arms of the Lord.

He attended Southern Wayne High School in Dudley.

After graduating, he joined the United States Air Force to serve his country, and received an honorable discharge.

He was employed with Legal Services of North Carolina until his health declined.

Rogers will be missed by those he leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Pamela Applewhite Blount of the home; his son, Rogers Blount II of Charlotte; his stepchildren, Samuel Applewhite of Lumberton, Calvin Reddick of Pine Bluff, Ark., and Jamisha Jackson of Elizabeth, N.J.; a brother, Jimmy L. Blount of Centerline, Mich.; two sisters, Sandra B. (Wilbur) Scriven of Goldsboro and Julia A. (Orin) White of Manhattan, N.Y.; an aunt, Sadie B. Jennings of Bronx, N.Y.; an uncle Walter Shirley of Goldsboro; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends

A visitation will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Eastern Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.

A celebration of life will be held Friday at 2 p.m. immediately following the visitation.

Following the services in the sanctuary, Mr. Blount's delicate temple, along with his adored family, will be escorted by E.M. Matthews' angelic white fleet to Elmwood Cemetery for interment rites.

Mr. Blount and the Blount family are in the hallmark of care at E.M. Matthews Funeral Home.
